Welcome to the Humboldt No.1 Fire Protection District’s (HFD) website. In 2009, HFD will celebrate its 80th anniversary of providing dedicated quality emergency fire and rescue services to our community.  As Fire Chief, I am humbled to be a part of the rich and proud history of HFD and feel privileged to work side by side with it’s career and volunteer personnel.

Our department serves approximately 25,000 residents covering an area of 40 square miles from its two fire stations. We respond to a wide range of emergencies including medical calls, structure fires, vegetation fires, hazardous materials incidents and vehicle accidents. Fire District personnel take pride in our service delivery and we use our training and skills to assist our residents, business partners and visitors on approximately 1,700 calls for service annually. In addition to providing high quality services to our own residents, we also partner with the City of Eureka, under an automatic aid agreement, responding to similar types of emergencies within the City.

As Fire Chief, I believe in community based fire services and the practice of having firefighters involved in many community activities both on and off duty and I encourage our community members to get to know our firefighters by visiting our fire stations.
